You have to keep physics principles in mind when planning, maintaining and repairing home heating systems. Remember that heat seeks balance by moving from a warm place to a colder place. So the higher is the temperature difference, the faster heat moves. And since warm air rises, you find the second floor of your home to be warmer than the main floor or basement.

The latest form of home heating and cooling technology is geothermal home heating using a geothermal heat pump. Here heat is taken from or deposited to the earth using a ground loop pipe. This form of home heating saves up to 70% on home heating but it is not cheap.

DIY heating home is a bit difficult as it requires lots of skill and experience to set it up. It is better to use the help of heating contractors to install this efficient heating home system. This is because you need to be precise and have sufficient skills when fitting home heating furnaces. You also need to know how to use numerous hand and power tools to fit these home heating boilers; so avoid doing it yourself unless you are have a knowledge on how it is done.

There are two types of home heating oil tanks; the above ground storage tanks (AST) and the underground storage tanks (UST). ASTs are the better choice for storing home heating oil as there are visible home heating fuel oil tanks which makes it easier to spot spills and leaks. These tanks are usually made of steel and range from 50 to 20,000 gallons.

It is better to buy larger home heating oil tanks so that you can store as much oil as possible during summer as home heating oil prices tend to fluctuate throughout the year. It is usually higher in winter, when the demand for heating oil is greater.

The home heating radiator is another form of home heating system where you can choose from designer radiators, bathroom radiators, towel warmers and other home heating radiators. One of the important parts of the home heating radiator is the home heating radiator expansion tank where water is stored. This tank has to be of the right size as when water is heated, it tends to expand. And if there is no place for this expanding water to go, pressure builds up in the system and may blowout a pipe fitting.
